Welcome to Cyber Risk Quantification Dinner Roundtable during QSC EMEA 2024 – How are we as CISOs de-risking our businesses?

Cyber threats are ever present, they come in many different guises with differing motivations but ultimately, they all create disruption in our businesses which impacts services and profit. Much like insurance the level of controls and investment required to mitigate these threats is much debated.

Measuring this risk, and subsequently, the required mitigations, is complex and multifaceted.

You are invited to join Richard Seiersen, Co-author of “How to Measure Anything in Cybersecurity Risk”, Sumedh Thakar, CEO and Technology Visionary of Qualys and a CISO, for a discussion on “Cyber risk quantification”.

Greater collaboration and sharing are vital to stay ahead of and to reduce risk in the fast-paced digital landscape. We invite you to take a seat at the table for peer-to peer benchmarking, knowledge sharing and networking in the exclusive private fine-dining setting of Mayfair Kitchen in London’s Mayfair.

Places are limited, offered on a complimentary basis.

Please R.S.V.P. today to confirm your place around the table!

Guests are encouraged to actively contribute to the discussion. Talking points include:

  • How are we as CISOs communicating risk ‘at speed’ to the Board? Is there a solid understanding of cyber risk and how is this resonating with the Board?
  • What approaches are we using to measure how we reduce cybersecurity risk effectively across the enterprise? What metric gets the best reaction when I share it?
  • How is risk managed at the time of an incident? Who owns the risk?
  • How are we balancing basic security hygiene with the need to embrace innovation in automation to improve ROI?
  • As a collective group, what are our predictions on what risk reduction will look like in the next 5-10 years?

Discussion co-steered by:

Sumedh Thakar
CEO and Technology Visionary, Qualys

As a cybersecurity visionary, Sumedh is passionate about making the world’s digital journey safer. His education and early experiences as a coder led him to Qualys, where he rose from engineer to president and CEO. He joined Qualys in 2003, shortly after the company’s founding and in an era when organizations started using the cloud but didn’t know what to call it. His contributions and leadership helped propel Qualys to its current success in cybersecurity. Sumedh became president and CEO in 2021. A “product fanatic and engineer at heart,” Sumedh has been instrumental in dramatically expanding the original Qualys platform’s scope, integrations, and automations.

Richard Seiersen
Chief Risk Technology Officer, Qualys

As the Chief Risk Technology Officer at Qualys Richard helps customers and the broader security community measure, communicate, and eliminate risk. With over 10 years of experience as a CISO, he’s led and supported security strategy, operations, and governance across critical infrastructure and cloud native organizations.  Richard has published two books, “How To Measure Anything In Cybersecurity Risk” and “The Metrics Manifesto: Confronting Security With Data.”  Each provides practical and innovative approaches to quantifying and reducing security risk. His first book is the main curriculum at the US Dept of Defense (DoD) CISO program at Carnegie Mellon University and numerous other institutions of higher education.
