Identity has been the point of failure in almost every major enterprise breach of recent years. A single phone call brought down MGM, at a cost of around $100 million. The same playbook was run against M&S and Co-op, with the damage to the UK economy estimated at £270–440 million. In Hong Kong, a finance worker authorised $25.6 million after a video call with a deepfake of his CFO. And fraudulent remote workers, placed at scale, have reached the payrolls of Fortune 500 companies and US government agencies.
None of this is really a failure of technology. It is a structural gap. Zero Trust modernised how we verify credentials, devices and sessions, but inherited one assumption from everything that came before it: if the credential is valid, the human is legitimate. The gap was always there. AI has industrialised it, turning the craft of a few into a commodity available to anyone with a connection.
We are bringing a small group of CISOs together over dinner in central London to work through what this means in practice: how identity became synthetic — from stolen credentials, to deepfakes, to autonomous agents — and what it now takes to prove there is a genuine human behind the screen. The evening is built around the conversation rather than the podium. A private dining room, a memorable setting, and a table of peers dealing with the same problem.
