The evening opens at Clays in Soho, in The Hide, a private shooting room reserved for the group, with drinks, food and a shoot. The conversation starts there and stays informal — between rounds, over the guns, in the way peers talk to each other when there is no agenda in front of them. It is a straightforward way to get to know a small group of CISOs.

The subject is the agentic SOC. Attack timelines are compressing, and the practical consequence is that decisions increasingly have to be made faster than a human review cycle allows. Agentic tooling is being introduced into detection, triage and response — in some environments deliberately, in others by degrees — and the questions that follow are operational rather than theoretical: what is genuinely running, what is still a pilot, where manual processes are starting to break down, and how much autonomous action a security leader is prepared to authorise.

The discussion is grounded in operational reality rather than future-state theory or vendor narrative. CISOs comparing notes on what feels solid, what feels fragile, and where their confidence has shifted in the past twelve months.

What is missing is shared clarity — which signals can be trusted, what peers are actually doing rather than what they say from a stage, and how to operate with confidence when human reaction time is no longer the primary control.
